Mega Sausage Roll (Meat version)
I have only realised that I have only got the vegetarian version on this blog,
so I need to apologise to the carnivorous herbivores in our midst.
A sausage roll is should only truly to be a meat lovers delight.
My recipe is not for the faint hearted nor squimish , I have surprised many a few with the ingredients of the mega roll.(disclosing only after they have taken a mouthful)
It is an Ode to scotland.
And it is extremely easy to make.
Sausage roll
Haggis 200g
Sausage meat (butchers choice) 200g
Jus-Rol puff pastry sheets
1 egg (beaten)
2 table spoon of milk
Spicy Ketchup
1/2 a 300ml bottle of Tomato ketchup
3 large tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce
a few shakes of Tabasco
mix together and serve in a ramekin
mixed the haggis and sausage meat together in a mixing bowl.
lay out the pastry sheets and brush with egg and milk mix
roll the combined meat and place lengthwise along one end of the pastry sheet, be generous with the meat.
Roll into a thick sausage, allow a little gap for air and the pastry expanding
brush with more egg wash
place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees centigrade for about 25/30mins or until golden brown.
Serve with spicy tomato ketchup
